Sunday 28 December 2008

He came by this afternoon and got christmas leftovers - but I was out so didn't see him or photograph him. Lady H said he was pretty pleased to see her.

Friday 26 December 2008

He was sat outside in the sunshine when I finished writing the blog. So going for a walk with him now.
Ate and drank too much yesterday to waddle to the keyboard. T stopped by at lunchtime on Christmas Day. He suffered the ignomy of "Christmas dog" (below) but was relieved of his misery after a couple of minutes. Dressing up is for girls. He stuck around all afternoon, and even sat in the kitchen but, after being fussed over by Lady H for a bit, he decided outdoors was best and sat on the doorstep, till the sun went down.

No sign of him yet today. There's good Christmas leftovers for him when he does: turkey, chestnut stuffing, bacon...

Wednesday 24 December 2008

Christmas Eve. A gorgeous day.
Taillaut came by after lunch. We all fancied a walk so went up the lanes for an hour. He was pretty happy about it. He hung out till the sun got low, then moved out. It's 24th December: he has things to do and allsorts of people to visit at Christmas.
Even the cat broke his winter hibernation and poked about in the sunshine.

This is yesterday's entry: I ran out of time to put this photo online.

He came by at around midday and sat in front of the house in the sun for about an hour. He had his belly rubbed. Then he went on his way...

no dog today

Sunday 21 December 2008

He came by this afternoon, unexpectedly as it's Sunday. We took a walk. Taillaut, as ever, was pretty excited to be accompanied in his wanderings. He generally runs a long way ahead. Then zigzags back across fields beside the tracks. Then he surges out of the hedge alongside you, else several feet behind to charge past you. Either way he loves to surprise. And he loves to walk. Well, run.

I fetched the cutters when I got home and went out again to get some mistletoe. He was overjoyed there was to be a second outing, however brief, and waited at every turn to make sure we really were going out again.

He sat outside the house for an hour barking at cars, before heading off at sunset... early tonight, as it's the shortest day of the year.

Saturday 20 December 2008

No visit yesterday and none today so far either.

Thursday 18 December 2008

So Taillaut came by about 12.30. I was on the phone to my sister. Lady H gave him last night's leftover roast chicken dinner. All that remained by the time I got to take this shot was a few peas and some roast squash skin (not bothered). He went up to the town hall to register to vote in next year's European elections (me not him) then we walked up the lanes, mushed up by the tractors in the melting snow. He bounded around the muddy fields. I saw a broken calf. T dug for ragondins. He came back with me and he sat and steamed in front of the house while Lady H and I put up the outdoor Christmas tree. Come teatime he moved on... to the next house for his next bowl of food...

Here he is...

I'm waiting for Taillaut to come by. He comes by most days except Sundays. But no sign of him yet. I'll take his photo when he does ...
